Although many do like it, chicken is a food that some people do not like because, although juicy, it does not have as much flavor as others. This often generates rejection and makes it necessary to look for alternatives to cook the chicken through stews or with sauces that give it that different and tastier touch, among other options.
Among them are the well-known chicken popcorn, which is an excellent way for children to eat this poultry meat that adults can also enjoy. It is also an ideal dish to take as a family, being possible to accompany it with different sauces such as barbecue, white or tomato, among others. We will explain how to make chicken popcorn most simply and surprise your guests with an informal dish, which can also be taken as an aperitif.
When making this chicken popcorn recipe, the main thing is to start preparing the chicken breast. It needs to be divided into little pieces with the knife in order to do this. Because each bite needs to be small enough to be swallowed in one bite, size is crucial. The pieces should have as comparable of a size as you can manage. After that, add the salt and milk to a bowl. Mix the two ingredients well. Once you have it, add the pieces of chicken breast, ensuring that they are well covered. If you have time, wrap the bowl in aluminum foil, plastic wrap, or cover it with a lid to put it in the fridge and let it cool for about an hour.
As the chicken is stored in the refrigerator, you can start preparing the flour mixture with the spices that we have indicated. To do this, take a bowl and put the egg, the flour, a bit more sea salt, the paprika or paprika, the black pepper, and the dried oregano, and, if you wish, the turmeric or other spices that you like.
With clean hands, stir all the ingredients thoroughly, or use a wooden spoon or fork to be completely mixed. If you need to stir more, to make the process simpler and faster, you can prepare the mixture in a bowl with a lid so you can shake it.
Remove the chicken pieces that you had in the bowl with salt and milk with a slotted spoon’s help and let them drain well. Once you have them drained, you should put the chicken pieces in the mixture of flour and spices to be well covered.
They must be like battered chicken, but they should not have an excess of flour so that the popcorn does not take on excess oil. Once the pieces are wrapped, do not leave them in the bowl; place them on a well-separated tray until it is time to cook them. You have to repeat this process until you finish with all the chicken pieces.
Once you have finished, take a pan and put the olive oil in it to heat it. When it is at the optimum temperature for frying, go putting the floured chicken pieces in the pan to fry them. Typically, they are finished in three to four minutes.
But the chicken must be cooked well – you may try one to time the frying – and that the floured has a golden color. Take them out of the pan when they are done and add other chicken pieces to cook, and so on until you are done.
When the chicken pieces are already fried, when you remove them from the pan, place them on a tray in which, previously, you will have put an absorbent kitchen paper to soak up the remaining oil and fat, and make the chicken remain crisper.
