Banana is rich in many nutrients. It contains potassium, vitamin C, vitamin B6, and dietary fiber. In a ripe banana, the amount of these nutrients does not change. However, as the fruit ripens, the starch in its composition turns into sugar. Therefore, the banana becomes much sweeter over time. This does not mean that green bananas are healthier than yellow ones. After all, our digestive system still converts starch into sugar.
However, unripe bananas are healthier. They contain slightly more resistant starch. It supports beneficial intestinal microflora, reduces inflammation in this organ, and regulates blood sugar levels. Resistant starch helps with weight loss as it makes you feel full.
